Enough with Diets!

And you know why??? BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WORK!

Tell me one thing: do you really think that if any diet worked they would still be stamped on the covers of magazines, websites, newspapers, and so on, as miracle formulas to lose weight?

Let's start from scratch:

Diet is not a new thing. NONE that you find in the media or have the displeasure of listening from your gym buddy will work, on the contrary: you will become a hostage of food!

The first diet was published by a Funeral Agent (Say whaaat?!? That's right!), Mr. William Banting, a Londoner who from the middle of his 30s went on to "fight" against obesity, a condition he saw as an "inexpressible dread", which made him isolate himself socially. At that time, as we still see today, Mr. Banting has tried various fallible methods for weight loss: medicines, spa, Turkish baths, fasting, strenuous exercise practices... Of course, no method worked and there was weight regain.

At one point, Mr. Banting met Dr. William Harvey, a surgeon who had just returned from a conference in Paris, where he had heard Monsieur Claude Bernard lecture on diet and diabetes. In a sage way, Harvey saw in Banting an opportunity for an experiment: the first low carb diet in history.

After a few months and a few pounds less, Mr. Banting decided to share his trajectory with the public through the publication "Letter on Corpulence, Addressed to the Public", which at that time reached 63,000 copies, influencing thousands of people.

After the global influence of William Banting, dozens of other diets, most WITHOUT ANY SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE, appeared. And of course, no wonder, the greater the concern with the body over the decades, the greater the number of diets.

Take a look:

In addition to the many factors that involve weight loss, studies have shown that dieting, unlike what is preached, increases the risk of weight gain and is a precipitator of eating disorders (LOWE et al., 2006; HAINES et al. (1998), NGUYEN, POLIVY, 2014, STICE et al., 2017).

So, after reading this text - and probably identified with some mentioned situation like hearing a "suggestion/indication" of a friend, mother, father, grandmother, colleague from the gym, social influencer, magazine, fortune teller, etc., do you really believe that a diet can reduce your weight?

My sugestion? Look for a well graduated nutritionist, who focuses on food re-education to guide you in the best way to make choices that will allow you to stabilize your weight and nourish your body and mind.
